Lornik Animal Hydrotherapy
Excellence in rehabilitation
We offer a professional, high quality, friendly hydrotherapy centre for your animal. Our facilities are accredited by a professional body and run by qualified and professional staff dedicated to patient care. We have two animal hydrotherapists who both trained at the nationally renowned Hawksmoor Hydrotherapy Centre. One of our hydrotherapists is a Registered Veterinary Nurse, so you can be sure that your pet will be in safe hands and will receive the best possible care.
Our centre has an aquatic treadmill with full automatic incline; a large heated pool for dog swimming; consulting and therapy rooms and plenty of car parking. We aim to improve each patient’s well being by strategically managed programmes of rehabilitation. Each session will be tailored to the individual patient’s needs. We strive to provide excellent quality of care by keeping abreast of current best practices and continual professional development.

What is hydrotherapy?
Hydrotherapy means ‘the treatment of conditions using the therapeutic qualities of water’. The benefit of hydrotherapy for many medical and surgical disorders is well documented.
Hydrotherapy is a carefully controlled, closely monitored session for pets in a heated (28-32 degrees) clean, purpose built pool or treadmill (depending on the pets condition). All pets are equipped with a special safety harness or buoyancy aid.
Benefits of hydrotherapy:
- To improve mobility in arthritic dogs
- To provide non-
weight bearing exercise
- To relieve pain, swelling and stiffness
- Following injury or surgery
- To increase speed of recovery
- To aid weight loss
- To build and maintain muscle mass
- To help increase range of motion in joints
- Mental stimulation
- For cardiovascular fitness
- Fitness and fun for working dogs
What happens next?
Your first visit will be approximately an hour long and will include:
- a tour of our centre and its facilities
- patient health check including weight, muscle mass measurement and gait analysis
depth discussion with you giving us a chance to get to know you and your pet
- an explanation of the proposed treatment plan with realistic, achievable outcomes
You will be kept informed of progress after each session and any changes to the treatment plan will be discussed with you. Where appropriate, we will update the referring vet regularly.
Patient safety is of paramount importance to us and as a member of the Canine Hydrotherapy Association a securely fitted harness or buoyancy aid will always be used, there will be no multi dog swimming in the pool, a fully qualified hydrotherapist will always be overseeing the treatment. Water quality is measured and recorded throughout the day to ensure safe swimming.
Contact Nikki or Lorraine to discuss your pet’s needs and make an initial appointment. If you would like to visit us and have a look around our centre, you are very welcome, just give us a call.
